The Cascade
The new headquarters for Nishat Group, Pakistan’s largest textile company, is located in Lahore at a site which is near the highway.
The form of the building is both abstract and gestural. Focusing on a clear volume, the building is developed around a central atrium to allow natural ventilation and daylight. One large urban opening connects this central void with the exterior surroundings, providing views over the city. As a ‘cascading garden’, this opening gives scale and allow nature to extend into all parts of the building.
The design elaborates the social, cultural and professional ambitions of the company by combining the workplace with other communal activities. The ground floor is a large communal space open to collaborative working and includes public amenities as meeting spaces and a café.
The façades with the brise-soleil cladding provides shading, but also give the building a coherent and strong yet at the same time light form. Ozge led Eaa design team.
